What is Survodutide?
Survodutide, also designated BI 456906, is an investigational GLP-1/glucagon receptor dual agonist. Its clinical research includes obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH).
Mechanism & research focus
The molecule combines GLP-1 receptor activity with glucagon receptor agonism, investigating coordinated effects on metabolic regulation. The contribution of each pathway cannot be inferred from a catalog description alone.
What the research covers
The 2026 SYNCHRONIZE-1 phase 3 trial enrolled 725 adults without diabetes and reported greater weight reduction with survodutide than placebo at 76 weeks. A separate 2024 phase 2 study in 293 participants reported greater MASH improvement without worsening fibrosis. Gastrointestinal adverse events were prominent in both programs.
What remains uncertain
Obesity outcomes and liver-biopsy outcomes answer different questions. They should not be generalized to every population or interpreted as proof of long-term prevention of clinical events. Published trials used controlled investigational products; their findings do not verify a commercial research vial's identity, quality or equivalence.
The evidence label describes the linked research, not the suitability of a catalog product for use in people. Formulation, identity, purity, and measured content must be assessed separately.
